I work with the Calm Health marketing team as their web and email developer. Being a freelancer can be a lonely affair, so being part of such a stellar little team is good for the soul. Together, we've created a modular email builder in Marketo, a library of landing pages for everything from app demos to PDF downloads, a couple new ground-up Wordpress websites featuring a huge library of custom Gutenberg blocks, on-site API-driven javascript applets, and so much more. We've been working together for 3+ years now with no plans to slow down.

Finding the right balance with a custom content builder
Too much control is overwhelming and leads to strange, messy layouts. Too little and the content team either finds hacky ways around things or rings your doorbell too often. I strive to find the right balance between the two: empower content teams, with clearly defined constraints. The end result is a scalable website the whole team is comfortable creating with.

Quick, agile problem solving for a massive international audience
A small marketing team like ours needs to be able to move fast and iterate quickly. I work closely with senior marketing managers to find solutions, improvements and fixes that go live to hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors in a matter of hours, not weeks. QA and testing are shared across the team. We jump between Zoom calls, Slack, and Jira tickets—unconventional and occasionally chaotic, but also highly effective with blazing-fast turnaround times. For us, it’s the right approach.
